By Lanford Wilson
Directed by Cynthia Smyth-Wartzok
Technical Direction by Ron Wartzok
Talley's Folley is a Valentine. As the character Matt Friedman says it is a "no holds barred, romantic story". To use another Matt analogy the play is also a waltz, a dance between fiction and reality were you occasionally get your toes stepped on. Matt Friedman a Eastern European Jew working as an accountant in St. Louis comes to the Ozark home of the Talley's to romance their spinster daughter Salley Talley. As the evening unfolds these two characters reveal to each other their hopes, dreams and deepest secrets. In an evening of humor and tenderness, Lanford Wilson creates a marvelous story of two unlikley soul mates creating a bond of love.
